Default New hood scratch!

I have a brand new 2007 IS 250, one month old. I was driving home from work on the highway and something rubber-like came flying at my baby OUCH!!, it hit the front part of my hood, giving it a 1 inch scratch that may or not come out. I'm taking my car to the dealer, any suggestions, ideas? What can I expect from the dealing on helping me?

There are a few quick fixes, depending on how deep the scratch is. If its just clearcoat, you could try scratch dr or something similar.

I am confused by the 'diameter' statement though; did the object make a circular scratch somehow?

Most dealers won't fix things like this for free, unless you have a very good relationship with them (i.e. they are cool and this is your 3rd Lexus bought from them), but I wouldn't expect any special treatment.

The dealers will not have any liability on this... you would just have to pay up and have it repaired.

This happened to me too... luckily I had my entire hood clearbra'd and it basically skidded right off... a quick detail and no mess.

Ouch!
Guess what... dealers don't do this kind of jobs.
Try to take it to a body-shop... It will be better with a friend's referral or talk to your local ClubLex mates. Just find a reputable shop.

Did it go through the paint? Can you feel the scratch with your nail? If you can, the scratch might be too deep to fully remove.

You might be able to use the Scratch X, and then reapply some wax to remove "some" of the line scratch if it's not too deep. Otherwise if it really bothers you, just have the hood repainted.

Would I be screwing up by repainting the hood?
