Some lady rear ended my old car 3 days after I put down my deposit on my IS. It was at a stop light--literally just a couple of scratches (among 7 years worth of others). Her insurance co. cut me a check for $500. I don't think the appraiser at the Lexus dealer even noticed.

I don't understand why you don't just let insurance handle this... Unless your deductible is $1000, which would be a bummer...

dude, my damage to the car was alot less than yours basically 3 huge scratches on my GFX. and one little NICK in the bumper. and a dime sized dent in the fender. 1200 to fix. nothing shifted like your bumper. just go through insurance, and don't trip.

well I don't want an insurance rate increase... i'm thinking I'll buy the bumper painted nad just install myself... Would that be a reasonable route?

Or touch up and let it be.... Only worry is that it'll fall out again but I duno.. I screwed it back in and such

I think there are laws against rate increases with a single incident. Is this just the most recent in a long series of incidents?

Otherwise, it will likely cost you more to fix it yourself than to just pay a bit more in insurance.

Bumper replacement will work, but it will be $$$
