Default Headlight condensation/moisture...

So, DRL bulbs were changed, and the cover wasn't placed on tightly. Only noticed the moisture yesterday.

What's the best way to get rid of the condensation (without having to get the whole headlamp assembly changed)?

Thanks in advance for your suggestion!

Wow, you still have condensation today? Then again, you did have a LOT of condensation in there last night - have you tried a blow dryer already?

Very careful use of hair blower or heat gun is one way.

How?

Do I heat the headlight assembly/glass itself, or point the dryer into the light bulb opening?

Point the dryer toward the bulb opening. Or better yet, put a small electric fan by the openings and let it dry out without having to stand there all day.

Should work well...on a dry day, of course.

Or, after removing the bulb, use a hair blower on medium, for no more than five minutes. It's worked for me.

I just noticed mine two days ago and lemme say I was pissed. Its my worst fear and it happened. How can you get into the headlight opening without taking off the bumper?

how come everyone's having these condensation problems? I installed my HID's like 8 months ago and NEVER put back the dust covers. Never had one drop of condensation and I live in a VERY foggy and damp area. I've gone through tons car washes and rain storms and nothing.. I don't think dust covers have anything to do with condensation... actually in the users manual in my dad's ES it says condensation is caused by the difference in the temperature between the inside and outside temps and that it was NORMAL at least in the ES. I didn't check my IS manual about headlight condensation.

the reason why you probably havent had any problems is because you have not put back the dust covers. I used to get condensation problems in my old car all the time so i would just remove the bulb and gasket. I would do this during the day. If I had to go anywhere the condensation would dry out faster. By you not putting back the dust covers you are allowing a balance of temps. It makes sense in my mind, I wonder what are the problems could happen if you don't put back the dust covers.

I don't remember what those things are called, but its the little packets that usually come in shoe boxes that say DO NOT EAT. Those things are to draw out moisture. Also, drive around for a while in the daytime with the high beams on, it'll make the process go by faster. Leave the car facing direct sunlight. Once it's gone, make sure the headlight is sealed up good.
