That comment usually doesn't go over too well around here. Good luck!

And if you don't think the Lexus marketing reps consider the driving concerns of females when it comes to designing a car, your in denial. Take a look at the Camry Salara a solid chic car..from its inception. There is nothing wrong with targeting a specific group of the population when it comes to designing cars. And for the guys that own a IS 250, i said in my 2nd post there are always exceptions to the rule!!! most guys who chose an IS 250 over an IS 350 usually claim lack of cash being the deciding factor, but you can find exceptions to that claim also..
If you believe that crap you need to get your head out of you rear end and grow up. How big your engine is has nothing to do with how big anything else is, or whether you have one to begin with.

If you prefer the 350... cool. It's a great car. Just please stop this macho BS designed to make you feel better about your own self. Are you compensating for something else with a bigger engine?

Well maybe our ISes will become as popular as Camrys. Seems like they are really selling fast in the last six months. I see them everywhere now, all AWD 250s in either silver or black.

Actually, the RX350 / RX400h is the #1 seller in the Lexus line up. The ES350 is the #1 for Lexus cars.

Bravo, bravo.

And just a comment on the "idiotic parents" getting their kids brand new nice cars. Has it ever occurred to you that they might be safer and more reliable? If money isn't a major concern, why won't you provide your kids the BEST there is? I'm sure many parents want their kids to get the best education, eat the healthiest food, etc, and why not a fricking car? Since according to you, they're going to crash their first car FOR SURE, would you rather have them crash in a crappy car, or a very safe car to ensure their lives aren't in danger? Think about that yourself. Not every parent who buys their kid a new car is spoiling their kid.

Well said and very accurate. I second your statement. In a couple of years, our kids will be driving and the 08 IS350 will be their car during high school. As parents, it is comforting knowing that they will be driving a reliable car that has modern safety features. Cars can be replaced, kids can not. A new or newer car does not "spoil" a child, it all depends on how the child is raised.

BTW... For those who have made statements regarding a woman driver being a lesser driver with the implication that a woman has decreased driving abilities, you are dead wrong. Are you aware that much research has been done on the gender difference and aviation? Both the US Air Force and US Navy have researched and determined that a woman's reflexes and ability to fly combat aircraft is beyond that of a male. Many of the top combat pilots and aviators are woman who are currently serving. The research revealed that a man utilizes testosterone to "push the envelope" while a woman uses "reflex and judgement". If a woman has the ability to be a top combat pilot / aviator, surely a woman can employ the same skill in a less complex machine; a car.

You are correct that woman have shown in research to be statistically better at what's defined as "fine motor skill", but you forgot to mention that woman are clearly lagging vs man at others such as "spatial/rotation skill" "navigating through a route" "guiding & intercepting projectiles". I would say those are somewhat critial skills in driving and piloting. While it's true that there are fine combat pilots and race car drivers who are women, number of man in those profession vs number of woman at the top level as well as quality should tell you something. It's no wonder there are no current F1 racers who are woman and very small number of racers at the top level are woman. And no major championship won by a woman - I don't mean single race. Anyone can win one race even a major race. Danica almost did win indy500 but we all know that was somewhat lucky pit strategy and not much to do with her driving skill or lack thereof. And I don't know what the exact numbers are among US Air force pilots and US navy aviators, I will bet you IS250 it's not 50-50 which should've been if women and men were somewhat equal pilots as far as skills go. In fact woman do have some physiological advatange for being smaller than man in general. Go take a look at pilots who pilot high-G aircrafts - F15's F16's F18's etc NOT C-17 cargo planes - you will notice that mostly they are men, but also tend to be short men. So Tom Cruise was a perfect casting for topgun. That's b/c shorter you are, your heart has shorter distance to pump your blood to your brain in high G conditions which leads to less likely you will blackout or you are likely to holdon longer from blacking out than your taller counterpart given same G forces for durations.

It's probably not politically correct but women are worse drivers and pilots than men are in general, statistically.

Just to add one comment regarding the female pilots. I've watched the Blue Angels documentary and in order to qualify as a pilot, a tremendous amount of strength on the forearm is needed and it was amazing to see the trainees being tested. To me, it would almost be scary to see a female passing that test because I can't imagine how big their forearms would be. However, the Blue Angels are the elite of the elite and that's a whole different story.

Those of you living in the US are lucky - the MSRP of the IS250 is only $5G less then the IS350. Most places outside of US doesn't even sell the IS350, and the IS250 is priced the same as what US folks pay for the 350!! Up here in Canada, the Base IS250 is $36,000 CDN, and the base IS350 is a staggering $49,000 CDN, a whole $13K CDN more. Given todays USD to CDN exhange rates (0.93), that's $33,480 USD for the IS250 and $45,477 USD for the IS350 for us Canadians... much more expensive up here especially for the 350... The price Amerians pay for the IS350 would only be enough for the IS250 up here!

So the price difference is certainly a factor worthy of selling a less expensive version of the IS here in Canada, but yeah, i don't see enough of a price difference for the IS250 down in the states - one option package and you're pretty close to getting a base IS350 unless you really want the Manual or the AWD...

You just love stereotypes, don't you? You bash teenagers, and now women?

Any driver sucks when they're on a cell phone.

And I wouldn't be surprised if men are worse drivers when on a cell phone.

All the women around me seem to multitask better than their male counterparts.

Sorry for going off-topic.

Obviously they are targeting more people to broaden the market, it's a fricking strategy. But how did you come to the conclusion of "Lexus created IS250 to target females and IS350 for males"? If that's not the point you're trying to make then you certainly should've said so long time ago.
