i just bought a 07 is 250 and i want it tinted. it looks like there is a slight factory tint already. does everyone else have this slight tint?

 

Yes, but I had mine done at 25% on top of that. Tinting is illegal in some states, but not in Texas. I wouldn't call the factory "tint" a real tint job.

 

I think its just a UV protectant or something like it built into the glass.

 

i was thinking of just leaving my front and front side the way they are and either going 20% or 5% on the back and back side ... does anyone have any pictures of this being done on a granite metallic is ... or any color for that matter? i just want to see if this imbalance of tint will look weird

 

Why bother tinting just the back? I never liked the imbalance.

 

If you're talking about smokey granite, I have some pix of my car tinted.

 

I think the JMD IS has factory tinted on the rear windows...

 

My smoky granite is in the pics below with 25% window tint on the sides and back. The car wasn't washed in these pics, but the tint looks sweet when I cruise down the highway (so I've been told by passers by that are awed by the look of the car).

 

The IS comes with 70% tint from the factory on all windows except for the front windshield, which is 78%, and the sunroof, which is 20%.

i have had 35% tint put on and the legal limit is 35%...technically could i get a tic if a cop check...doesnt seem that dark..just curious...

Does tinting the moonroof affect the integrity of the glass?

Myth says that if you tint the moonroof, the glass cannot expand or contract during hot summer heat... causing it to crack or "shatter".

Is tinting moonroof safe?

 

when i got my tint done i asked the guy if he would do my moonroof he said that he would not do it bc of that reason...
