Default 1,000 Service?

I just bought an 07 IS250 and about a week ago there was a soft/slight noise coming from the sterring wheel when i turned it left and right. Now, there is a soft squeaking noise coming from the steering rack. It's faint, but you can definitely hear it when going over bumpy roads w/ the radio OFF. Has anyone experienced that.. is it anything to be concerned about? Also, the 07's come w/ a free 1,000 mile inspection. All they do is check fluid levels and tire pressure and a complete body inspection. Does anyone think I'll be given a hard time IF i skip it? They said it's 1.5 hours and I'd have to wait, no loaner car available for this one! I also read the thread on the brake dust.. which blows! I would think that if you had the pads changed for the less 'dirty' ones, then the dealer would let you keep the old ones, upon request, right?

huh.... Well I dont see the point to the 1000 miles check up unless you are very paranoid, the 5000 mile free check and oil change ought to be enough. I had the brake pads changed out and love them, but didnt think to inquire about keeping my old ones. I was just happy I was getting rid of them! Something tells me though that they wouldnt.

It's free so you might as well go... I went for my 1600km service yesterday. Mainly because I got a free car wash and because I was getting a new keyfob registered (they only gave me one when I bought it).

Interestingly the tech said that Lexus, in Canada at least, gives you synthetic oil at no charge if you ask for it. So when you go in for your 8,000km service, which is also free, just ask them for the Mobil 1.

My IS also makes a slight sound when I turn the wheel. I'd describe it as a very light sanding sound or maybe felt rubbing on plastic. Since this is the first car I've owned with electric power steering, I thought the sound was normal.

1000 miles is for LPS. but you can always drop it off for a few more hours to have them check it out for you.......you might get a loaner too ? ... just call them ahead to setup the appt......

Mine took only about 45 minutes, maybe your stealership is too busy?

It's free so I took it in... it doesn't hurt unless your time is really precious.
