Default Is brake drag normal?

I have an 07 IS250.

I was hearing some metal scraping noise when I spin the right front wheel while the car was jacked up. Not sure how long I have been having this issue but I noticed this noise at about 50,000 miles. Never had my brakes changed. Took it to the dealership and had the front rotors and pads replaced.

After getting the brake service done, I am still hearing the metal scraping noise on the right front side while the car is up in the air. Took it back to the Lexus dealership and they checked everything. my service advisor told me that this is normal.

Is brake drag normal? It happens more on the right side than the left side. I'm afraid that this will cause premature brake wear.

I'm also agreeing that you have to bed your brakes.

What exactly does the noise sound like? When my car is jacked up and when I spin my wheel to loosen lugs, mine also makes a light scraping sound.

Yes with the wheel in the air on a jack or on jackstands it's perfectly normal.

This will change nothing at all under the conditions the OP stated.

Is the scraping sound a smooth one or a nasty grind? A smooth scraping is normal.

This all depends on the pads and the rotors. If it just got a wash and the rotors are red with surface corrosion, they might sound pretty ugly. If the brakes are hot, they'll likely be pretty smooth and mostly quiet. Both would be normal.

So do you hear the noise while traveling, or just when up on the lift? After car wash I'll get the "scrub scrub" noise until the first time I hit the brakes. Simple surface rust.

Unless something has changed, this discussion is about when the car is in the air, not traveling down the road.

Yes, I was talking about when the car was jacked up in the air...

Lobuxracer and other car guys I talked to say it's all normal. Car manufacturers design the brakes this way so brake response is instant. That is why the pads and rotors are so close or slightly touching each other.
