Am I getting BS'd?
So I get a call from the salesperson today regarding the IS350 I'm supposed to lease on Saturday. Cliffnotes: I put down a refundable deposit ($500) on Friday. Today he tells me that it is only good to hold the car for 3 days unless a supervisor gives it the
. Now there just happens to be someone who wants to buy the car that I put the deposit on and he has to go ask his supervisor for permission to hold the car till Saturday
My question: is a refundable deposit really only good for 3 days? If it isn't would you recommend sticking with this salesguy considering he might be bs'ing me? I am also in negotiations with 2 other Lexus dealers and they claim to have the same car (colors and optionwise) in stock, so I can just go to them. The reason I'm sticking with the salesperson I have now is because he's a friend of a friend's cousin. Advice?

I'm thinking the same thing. I told him 2 weeks ago that I would be coming in this Saturday and even made the appointment for 11
My $1,000 deposit was not under any specific time frame. Infact when I got to the dealer my car was parked infront of the showroom with a paper sitting on the dasboard that said "I am already sold, but if you like me we have others".
that's why you should have the contract (numbers crunched) when you put down the deposit......
You live in CA, there are many other dealers around.......I would just get the $ back, deal with some other dealers and call the corp. and complain about the issue you have. Shady dealers should not exist for LEXUS.
edit: didnt see the last part: sometimes it's not a good idea to deal with friends' friend, relatives.......now you see the reason why ?

So he managed to "talk" the supervisor into holding the vehicle. While all that is fine and dandy, I'm going to start looking more aggressively at other dealers. I actually did want to buy from him at first because he was the 2nd least pressuring salesguy and the closest one. I'm going to be giving the sales guy at Glendale Lexus a call now.
