After researching and evaluating the G35, TL Type-S and the IS350, I put my deposit down for a Tungsten Pearl 350 w/ the black interior, lux package and the navi w/ML
It's coming in their allocation next week. I'll be doing the final number crunch at around 11 next Saturday, and headed to my 2:00 appointment at Aerotect for a clear bra.
I've been to a bunch of dealers around here and the only thing they have, and the only thing I've seen on the road for that matter, is the AWD 250s. When I ask about the 350 I just get the same old response that not a lot of 350s were made for the eastern sales region which encompasses Maine to Virginia. Apparently they mostly made 250s with the AWD and getting a 350 is damn near impossible even through dealer swap. I wanted a red one w/a grey interior and ML audio, but guess what? 350s are rare, and the red ones were only made with a black interior, and there are no options available (not even ML audio which seems like a pretty basic upgrade for $750 as listed on Lexus web site) other than the luxury package w/18 in. wheels it comes with. This may be BS, but I was told only 123 red 2007 IS350s were made in the eastern region accounting for 1.5% of all production of IS350s in the eastern region which implies that only 8200 IS350s were made.
What this doesn't explain is why are IS350s showing up all over this board with ML audio, and red ones don't seem to be any more scarce than the other colors. I would normally say I was being BS'ed, but I'm getting the same story from all dealers almost word for word as if they rehearsed it. Luckily I'm done visiting them and mostly call or email around in the hopes one of them has something I like. I've been looking since the end of March with no luck. Special ordering one I'm told is a 4-6 month wait as well. So...needless to say it's getting kind of frustrating. Oh, I'm considering checking with a few southern dealerships where maybe the 350 is more popular since there's no snow or ice there.

Yeah, getting the 350 in the Northeast Area or even the 250 RWD is a hard find most of the time. The 250 AWD is predominant since people want AWD for weather conditions such as snow and stuff. I also tried looking for a 350 but just couldn't wait and I just got the 250 AWD instead.

try carsdirect.com.....let them do the legwork for you!
they might come up with some surprises.....
that's how I got my 6MT (same story as yours, only 7 available in the western region for each shipment)....
iskcon - that is what annoys me most. I wasn't getting this car to go tooling around in the ice and snow, and I didn't think many others would do that either. Lexus makes plenty of other slow and safer cars, which I also own, but I wanted something smaller, sportier, and faster that I could drive outside of the Nov-Apr snow and ice season. The price point is what is killing the IS as a performance car. A car that's priced in the low to mid 30s made by Toyota/Lexus will sell, so now we have all kinds of older people and moms buying the cheapest, safest, lowest priced version of the car and leaving the higher end ones scarce since there's seemingly no demand for it. Maybe the ES (a.k.a. Camry w/Lexus logo) isn't selling that well and the IS was another way to sell to that demographic?

don't mind me asking, but...
1. which dealer are you ordering it through?
2. you mean to say that you didn't finalize the numbers BEFORE you put the deposit down?
