Well from what I understand the OEM ones are just after market ones not made by Toyota but by a company called Pacific something I think. So you should be able to get those somewhere else and they will work fine.

I think its that they can only be mounted on certain rims and thats the problem people are having with them... or perhaps its an air pressure thing... not really sure about that one.

Here's a pic. The wheel has to be designed to accommodate this TPMS. The hole on the wheel where the valvestem goes through must be towards the face of the wheel. It cannot be flat on the hub like most Japanese wheels where the valvestem comes out perpendicular to the hub. This way the valvestem comes out with the sensor flat inside the hub for protection. Hope this helps.

Without the TPMS, you will have a blinking warning light on your dash after about 100 miles of driving. Some have placed the sensors in the spare tires or a wheel barrow tire. I placed mine in a pressurized canister. There is a thread about his.

Or, you can pony up the dough for a new set...to the tune of ~$400+. How much does anyone want to bet that there's <$1 that goes into the production of each one?! Ugh.

any 07 toyota tpms will work...search this has been discussed in many threads.

you can also order the rim straps to mount the tpms if you have a 3 piece wheel or non compatible wheel. they are big *** hose clamps that have a spot for the tmps.
