Default i hate dealerships

They are full of moronic service advisors. At least the 2 here in South Florida... Lexus of Kendall and Lexus of West Kendall.

Lexus of West Kendall:
I recently found out about an update for the nav (thank to ClubLexus) to fix the nav from going off track. I've ended up in the ocean twice already Well, this dealer (or my service advisor... whose name is Harvey by the way) says there is no update or TSIB about this issue. I even printed out the TSIB, so I had it right in my hands when he told me this. Anyway, after his quick response about it, I decided to not pursue it any further. I am NOT taking my car to him when he can not even acknowledge something so simple and not even TRY to address the issue. He has also never heard of a TSIB for the brake dust issue either... surprise surprise.

Lexus of Kendall:
I went there today in person and explained that I didn't want the run around. Take care of my issues and you'll have a new customer for life. I explained the nav issue and he has heard of it and will gladly take care of it for me. Great, 1 problem fixed. Now, the brakes... they have never heard of a TSB about it, but they assure me Lexus is working on it Do I have to do everything myself to get anything done? As for the engine cranking noise that quite a few people seem to be experiencing... apparently its 100% normal! Yea thats right... your $40K Lexus is supposed to make this horrible noise that sounds like you just dumped a bucket of pebbles in your engine. It's got something to do with some air pump or water pump... I don't remember which one he said.

I am sick of this ****. What can I do to make these things go away? Who do I have to call? Any info or opinions on what I should do would be appreciated.

And what did both dealers say when you showed them the TSIB?

Talk to managers man... Its amazing how motivated monkeys magically get when managers tell them to do things.

For LoWK... I didn't mention anything about the TSIB for either problem. I talked to him over the phone, and besides that, I shouldn't have to show him.

For LoK, I didn't need to show him the one for the nav (since he was aware of the issue) but he doesn't know of the one for the brakes and he gave me some BS answer about the engine cranking noise.

These guys are supposed to know this stuff. Why the hell should I be the one doing the research for them?

IMO you are over reacting. Do you really expect these guys to know every TSIB for EVERY model from EVERY year? I sure as hell dont. So it takes you an extra 60 seconds to read the guy the TSIB and have him look it up... big deal.

Think about it this way... there are currently 8 models this year. Figure about 3 TSIB's per model, now figure that there are TSIB's still coming out for the past four model years... That's 96 TSIB's (I'm being VERY generous seeing as there are 21 TSIB's for the IS alone) Do you really expect him to know all of these off the top of his head?

Pick your battles... I've learned this the hard way. Listen, you've got this forum to support you. My Lexus dealership didn't know about the brake TSIB either. Instead of fighting them, I just printed out the TSIB and gave it to them. Could have fought for them to find it themselves... but that would have just given us both headaches. I'm going to save my fighting power for a problem that REALLY needs fighting for. Save your ammo for a future visit. Inevitably you'll need it eventually. But, don't be that customer who is a Pain in the ***... be the one who comes in knowing his stuff (e.g. having your own TSIBs) so that when you do need to use your ammo down the road, they'll know that you know what you are talking about and will take you more seriously.

The issue with the Fuel pump is completely different from the VVTI-Issue.

The issue witht he fuel pump is a noise that lasts for about 15 minutes as the engine warms up. The VVTI issue is a 2 second clatter upon start up.

If you want have them call Lexus of Mobile and speak with a service advisor named Lonnie. He has known about all of the TSIBs I've brought up to him and has been nothing short of super helpful.

I don't think I'm over reacting. It's his job to know this stuff... not mine. If he really doesn't know... instead of telling me there is no TSIB, he could tell me that he will have to do some research or something. But I guess thats to difficult for their simple minds.

Yea, this is what I will do next time. I have an appointment for an oil change at LoK and for the seat belt recall and nav issue. I will print out any TSIB's and leave them with the SA. I just hope they will take care of it.

He didn't mention the fuel pump, he said either air or water pump. I don't remember which one exactly but it was one of those 2. He also described the exact sound so we were both talking about the same thing.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time finding someone to give you answers. Kinda makes you wonder what type of techs they have working on you 40k car.

just give them the copy of the TSIB

if they refuse to be helpful, then obviously you have a bunch of A-Holes that don't wanna help you.

Just like Parkway Toyota in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

The service department is the bread and butter of any car dealership so, if they wanna lose customers, so be it.

Find a place that WILL take care of you.

TSB means nothing if it's not reproducible by them. Just because you say so isn't a good enough reason for them to fix/repair. They won't get reimbursed from Lexus otherwise.
