Default Engine problem

I was wondering if you guys could help me out on this. On my family members car, when the car is started it would run but once step on the gas the engine turns off. (In Park) Theres also a check engine light. Now what can they do as for troubleshooting before taking in to the stealership? Is there some sensor that shuts the engine off? Thank you!

There are a lot of sensors that might do that. What car are we talking about?

it could be a bunch of things. does it turn off when you switch to reverse or drive? was it recently involved in an accident of some sort?

unless you have a utility to read the codes that are being thrown, your best is to take it to the dealership.

Sounds like damage to the accelerator. It's electronic and has two devices that it checks to be sure you are pushing on the gas. If they disagree, it shuts down.

Or it could be any number of other things. Without a code scanner, it is really impossible to troubleshoot over the Internet.

Ok so I went over and check out the car. The car starts up fine, and I put it in drive and reverse and that is ok. Now when its just running in park for about 10 min or so the engine turns off. Also like I mention above when the car is in park and running giving it some gas it also shuts off.

Does anyone know what does the driver injector module do? Its mounted in front of the engine block, right behind the fan.

It's time to get it to the dealer. It's still under warranty, right? You have Lexus roadside for the first four years, so it won't cost anything to get towed to Lexus and have them repair it.

Why would you want to fix it yourself? Did you do a mod and damage something?
