I travel often for work and rent cars a few times a month... let me just say that after renting these cars and hopping back into my IS, i really love the larger side view mirrors. They help sooooo much!
The stock side mirrors are very aerodynamic (reduces wind drag, noise), safer since larger, electrochromatic (if equipped) and heated. Other mirrors may not blend well with the car.
