Any statistics on this? I'm sure people fiddling with their stereo/cell phone...and the worst, drunk drivers, kill at a ratio of 100000000 for every one killed by tint.

The only issue the cops seem to have with tint, when they do care, is that they cannot see into the vehicle. Which is kind of a moot point on something like a cargo van anyway.

You've got to be kidding. Doesn't common sense tell you that if you darken your view where only 5% of the light comes in at night that you've compromised some safety?

You're trying that phony argument of comparing one bad thing to justify another. It's illogical and does not justify illegal tints regardless of what other dangers exist. It only makes the situation worse.

I don't care what issue the cops seem to have. I'm talking about the safety aspect. On the other hand, if the cops don't pull anyone over, why was the law passed in the first place? In the interest of public safety, do you really think that 5% tint on a windshield is a good idea?

I NEVER said ANYTHING about tinting the WINDSHIELD and would NEVER do it.

I hope that whole public safety awareness thing works out for you.

I have tints on the front/side windows too and you know what, It makes me even that more careful. The fact is, because I have tints I pay even more attention when switching lanes or driving through a cross street.

It's all relative, if someone's not paying attention, have bad vision, or have poor driving skills, it doesnt matter how dark or light your tint is, that person shouldnt be driving. IMO 5% is not that bad, I can see fairly well even at night. But again, it all depends on the person behind the wheel and what their comfortable with. Some of you guys in this thread make it seem like 5% is as dark as the black hole.

I certainly agree with that, but one guy in the below thread (#3) is suggesting just that:

Tinted windshield

And as dumb as it sounds, nobody in this thread talks about 5% on other than the windshield, so I would conclude some of you favor doing it to all glass including the windshield.
