seats and heater
I found that if you use both the heater and the seats, everything heats up very well, plus we know how well that cooler and heater work when on High!

I agree....Michigan winters can be brutal....mine seem quite toasty on 3 and heat up VERY quickly. On very cold days, the seats keep me quite comfortable until the heater gets the cabin up to my prefered temperature. The cooling feature while seemimgly slower, worked just fine as well and is appreciated with my black interior!

I think it also has to do with clothing. Business slacks Vs. jeans. With all the talk about laptop batteries frying your nuts, I think Lexus erred on the side of caution. I run mine on 2 when it's cold out.

I hated my old cars Seat heaters because one they took forever to heat up but once they started heating up they would literally burn your ***, the IS is the perfect temperature I never turn the Seat heater above 1.5. I friggin love the Seat cooler, I think you have to have 100 Degree houston heat to really appreciate them!

Funny, I found them to be at their worst on 100+ days. The sun bakes the black leather while the car is parked. Then when you get in and turn them on, the seat ventilators (NOT COOLERS) blow a weak stream of air through the superheated seat cushions. The small amount of air that comes out is as hot as a hair dryer.

No, they don't get very hot. My guess is that it's to minimize the risk of damage to the leather. My old car is 9 years old and the leather on the seat is cracked and shot, and it does not have any seat heaters --- I can't imagine what the leather would look like if I baked it at 120 degrees for 9 years.
Reminds me of the time I had to take a trip for work in a rental Altima (I think it was an Altima, anyways). The seat heater must have been on max, but was either broken, or I just couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Fried my butt off on that trip. No comparison betwwen the heat that thing put out and what my IS puts out.

At level 3, the seat gets quite warm to me. I rarely leave it there for long, i'm usually between 1.5 and 2. What I can tell you is that the seats don't warm up as evenly as they do in our S Class which heats the seats very evenly, both around the butt and back areas. The IS seems to have some areas that are warmer than others, but overall, not bad at all.
