Default opinion on ipod setup

I don’t want to spend a lot of money on hooking my ipod up to my car...I know that all u need is to connect the wire to aux jack but I want to do something a lil more permanent....I have an idea can u guys tell me what u think...

I was thinking about getting the ipod universal dock with remote...and somehow placing it where the ash tray is...and run wires to under the armrest to use the aux and power outlet to charge the ipod...im sure this would require me to some how resize the dock and move the remote sensor somewhere else...possibly inside one of the ac ducts above...haven’t really sat down and given it serious thought.....

What do u guys think...go for it...or is it not worth it...

Personally I would bite the bullet and get a vais setup. Right now the group buy is going and I think it is right around $200 bucks. I like mine because it helps to keep my eyes on the road rather than on an ipod screen that can be washed out by sunlight.

However the route at which you wish to go may not be too bad. The ashtray will fit an ipod nano just fine if you remove the tray and lighter. Over at my.is they have a product that you can put in place of the lighter and ashtray to may a "sunglass" type compartment that would work well. You could then run the wires right into the center console without too much trouble.

Just making sure I'm getting the right thing... I wanted to order one, I have an 07 IS350, when configuring there's no option for an 07 is350. I just enter the 06 IS350 and same audio options I have and I should be good right? Thanks for the help

Non-navi units don't work well with the VAIS unit.

I have non-navi no ML and it would not work correctly after numerous resets, etc. Best it might do is let you control your ipod from the steering wheel but none of the ipod information would be reliably displayed on your headunit.
