Does it REALLY take four months?
I have heard a lot of people here say that it takes four months to take delivery of a special order IS.My question is does it really take four months to take delivery of a true special order NOT a vehicle transfer from another dealer??Or does it very from to state to state? If so, what have been the experiences of people who did a special order here in texas?
YES and NO!
There is no "SPECIAL ORDER" vehicle. You can't make Lex make a car for you because they don't take orders. You only wait if they produce one that will match your preference, but more likely there will be no discount because it's your exact/closest matching vehicle.
There is also a great chance you will get mugged if they say there is another potential buyer who wants the same car....
Good luck

Anytime a dealer refuses to budge on a special order, let them know that you're aware that there are no carrying costs for the vehicle. That is, it got there, they washed it, and now they're getting it off their lot. It's cheaper to sell a special order vehicle.
By law, they can't keep your deposit if you refuse the vehicle. If the deal doesn't sound right, demand your deposit back and walk. It's just a car - you don't have to make anyone's Christmas more special by being a sucker.
Re: the original question, it took about 3 months for my car to arrive. It depends on where you're located, and luck of the draw, I think.
It depends on when you order. I ordered my IS350 on Aug 28th and it arrived while I was on vacation in California on Nov 24
However Technique ordered his 2 days later... His isnt arriving till the end of December.
And yes you can special order. I ordered mine with Just HIDs, 18s, Nav+ML in Starfire with Sterling. Probably hard to come by

I've ordered mine since Sept. 26th, and I still haven't gotten it. Still waiting! The dealer called me couple weeks ago and told me that a message showed up on his computer that said "they will start building my car in Dec". Don't exactly know when in December, though. Hoping everything works out fine for me...
Yes - Lexus does take special orders...for instance if you wanted a car with no sunroof - you could get one...but it would take at least 4 months. I special ordered my 250AWD with ML and NAV...it took every bit of 4 months - it is different if they are making the combination you want...then it is a waiting game on the allocations...if it is a true "special" then you'll have to wait.
I lucked out....
I wanted a sgm with the lux package and ml. I called around and did not find what I wnted but I did find a white one with black interior and the options i wanted. I looked at the car and liked it, not my favorite but white is ok, so I went to put a deposit on it and the manager had just traded the car. But they came back to me and told me they had a sgm one on the boat and it would be about 10 days...I took it!
