I do not plan on stepping into a dealership until I actually pick up the car... I did everything over email and phone...
Ditto here.
I also did everything via phone and e-mail. My first time at the dealer was the day I took delivery. So, if you get the right dealer, this is definitely an option. I was able to get exactly what I wanted options-wise for a substantial discount off sticker doing it this way. I'd recommend you try it.
i got them on my allocation, there were 2 cars i special ordered the same day and i got them both on this allocation, they both port on 12/23 and should be here by the end of the month

Can you explain specifically what "allocation" is and how it worked this month? (e.g. - "Allocation is the once a month occurance when we know what cars we are getting. This month, I got my allocation inventory on 12/5")
allocation is when the factory gives the dealers more cars to replenish their inventory. typically there are 2 allocations per month, depending on the number of boats arriving at the port. the allocation dates will be different depending on which port you get your vehicles from. i get mine from jacksonville.

sweet!! I just got a phone call from my dealer and they said my car showed up last on their next allocation.
Its set to arrive at the port on dec 22nd and should arrive at the dealer the first week of jan.....
Thats the same thing my dealer told me. My car was scheduled to arrived in New York 11/24/06 and it woult take 10 days to arrive at the dealer
I told them, that I would be out of town from 11/17-11/27
The dealer called me on the 11/22/06 to tell me the car was on its way to the dealer. It arrived at the dealer on the 24th(23th was a holiday).
So my car sat there for 5 days. WHile they put on my front plate (Even though I told them not to) Ah well, plateless is not legal in VA anyway... but still.
Anyway, hopefully you will get the car before new year. Esp if you are in jersey and it arrives in NY on the 22nd.
Technique, you should send your dealer an email. Your car is probably on their list. Good luck.
