Smile 10,000 mile service appointment

I've got mine coming up this week, and wanted advice. Sorry if it's been posted...I couldn't relocate.

Besides the oil change and tire rotation (non staggered tires on my AWD 250), for a guy who does normal driving in city conditions...50%/50% highway/city streets, anything else neccessary?

I'd like to avoid the blanket charge for the "10,000 mile service", most of which I'm assuming wouldn't be neccessary.

Filter replacements etc?

Thanks for any tips!

i went it for my 10000k a few months back and all lexus did was the oil change. i didnt even have my tires rotated. any filter replacement like the cabin filter can easily be done ourselves. filter is like $20 i believe and a simply 2 minute job.

I am getting my IS350 10K this weekend myself! I am planning on asking them to install a set of sport pedals (gas, brake and foot rest) which I got from a lexus parts seller on ebay. They told me they will install them for free as I was scheduling my appointment.
Aside from tire rotation and oil change (bringing in my own synthetic for about $20 to $40 less that what they offer it at) I am not sure what else they will offer. If I get the chance after saturday I will follow up on this thread.

After you see what they will charge you to pour your oil in for you, you'll probably understand why they're willing to install your parts for free. I'm going to the Toyota dealer tomorrow for my 10k oil change. Also, I ordered some filters, etc. from irontoad.com today.

Guys out of curiosity, i will be approaching 10k in about a year, but how would the dealership rotate tires if the fronts are 225 and the rear 255?

Simple ..... you don't rotate tires on a staggered setup.

Glad my first four oil/filter changes are included in the purchase price. That way I won't have to worry about it for the first couple of years.

I just got an oil change at my 10k... As well as my 15k. Around 13k I replaced the OEM air filter myself for a K&N. At 20k I will get the oil changed, and change the AC filter myself.

Sounds like a good marketing move. By the time the major tuneups roll around, customers will be conditioned to bringing their car to the dealer rather than an independent mechanic.
