Display Building shapes on nav screen
Has anyone ever noticed the option in the settings menu on the nav "Display Building Shapes"? I looked in the manual and I think it says shapes will be displayed when zoomed in 150-700ft (or maybe it was 150-300, can't remember). Anyway, couldn't find this being discussed on the search at all but has anyone ever seen building shapes on their nav? I know I definitely haven't, and usually keep my zoom at 300ft.

I seem to remember a section on this feature on the documentation CD. I believe it only has coverage in limited urban areas. Not sure what part of MD you are from -- if from the south, have you tried it in downtown DC?

It actually is VERY cool! I live in the LA area, any building that has a color besides the standard yellow (mustard yellow); at 300ft zoom or more, will have building info....if you click on it it will tell you the store names and phone numbers if you'd like.

Have you tried it in downtown Phoenix or Tucson? I'm not sure what parts of AZ might be covered, but it isn't likely to work in smaller cities, the suburbs, or out in the boonies.

its a cool feature to look at, but useless when it comes to finding building info. because you can't read the info while driving, even with the volume override thing. i just like the outline of the buildings.

I figured scottsdale would be on there, but I guess I'll have to go to downtown phoenix and check it out

If Eclipse uses the same software as Lexus uses for their navigation (which some believe that they do), this would be the list of covered areas for the zoom in...
http://www.eclipse-web.com/avn7000/st_map_coverage.html
And if you follow that same assumption, this is what it would look like...
http://www.eclipse-web.com/avn7000/spe_streetmap.html or very similar because Lexus appears to use a different color scheme.
If this helps...
