I have a 650 treo and read verbatim and followed the instructions in the manual however, it keeps reading "connecting." Is there something wrong with my connectivity? Anyone else have similar problems with their treo?
I have a Treo650, it works very very well, absoloutely no probs, I'm not sure why it would be doing that. Have you atleast put in the key on your treo? And it recognises the car kit when its doing a search for nearby devices?
I got the 680 today for a few reasons, not the least of which is my 650 is getting beat up and old.
Pairing wasn't quite as simple at first, but I found a new Treo feature that made it work like a charm.
Go through the normal pairing process, enter the code in the phone. The Multidisplay screen will not show success, it will just stare at you like the pairing failed. No worries. Go to Bluetooth/setup devices/trusted devices screen on your 680, tap on the menu bar, and see the option "Connect". Tap it. Your multidisplay will immediately indicate success. This is not covered in the documentation, and I discovered this on my own after about 20 minutes of feeling frustrated.
The next thing you'll notice is battery strength. I haven't tried loading contacts, and I'm not sure I want to. I have somewhere around 1k, so I don't know if I really want to make that big a mess.
Anyway, the BT in the new Palm works MUCH better than the 650 IMHO. I still haven't tried it with my Jabra BT500, but if the Lexus results were representative of anything, it will be far improved as well.
Lance, I hope to God that Palm has improved the BT implementation in the 680, because in my 700p it simply sucks. Does it give you any grief when pairing with your headset? A bit off topic, I know...
My 700p works fine, and it even transferred all the contacts in one group. The way to do this is in the Contacts app, hit the menu, and select "send category" rather than "send contact"...then you can send a whole category (ie "Friends" or "Family") to one of the groups in the car's address book.
I don't get the battery life on the screen though :-(...my buddy's VZW "chocolate" does...
hmmm.. send category ehh.... damn.. i never thought of that...
also does anyone have an issues of incommin' calls and number not matchin up...
ie 535-444-3355 is not the same as 15354443355 and not the same as 5354443355 or is 1-535-444-3344
I haven't taken the time to look into it but after i have an outgoing call from my car ... i get a "do you want to add number?" screen.... it seems that one of these sequence doesn't math ... is it just my phone being stupid?
Also is there anyway to get your last redialed number on the speed dial screen lower right box. It seems that it won't show last outgoing call if you dialed the number through your phone. It seems that it has to be in the phone book in order to be shown as a speed dial missed call.
I got a gs300 as a loaner today and it showed a last dialed number which wasn't in memory...
