Gtech
I couldn't get it working either... it goes into the mode where you have to specify how many cyl and try different settings but I couldn't get it to even track RPMs accurately at idle. My guess is the electrical system is so "quiet" that the Gtech can't pick up any signal. So I just ignored it and turned off the shift lights, the car already has programmable shift lights anyways. At least it'll still measure lateral and accel/brake G's. But let me know if you get it to work.
i know someone on this board to it to work.. i was in the same setup also... specifying cylinder etc... i think it's cause we have DI system. It doesn't do it with sound.. i think it does it usually by like the spark plug/dristributor...
when I was saying "quiet" I didn't really mean from sound
... my understanding of how the Gtech reads the RPMs is that it actually picks it from the "noise" in the electrical system (through the cigarette lighter) that changes with engine speed. My theory is that there is so little noise from our ultra-smooth Lexus that it can't pick up that signal. But yeah if someone has got it working I'd love to know.
