Default Car not shifting from paRK??????

HELP......aNYONE HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE SHIFT LOCK NOT DISSENGAGING FROM PARK ? (oops) After i drive for about 30 min and turn the car off, when I re-start the car for some reason I cant move the shift lever out of park. I don't hear the low click sound that always occurs when i press the brake (the sound is located in the shift gate area). After I wait a few min it seems to fix itself...Anyone know what this could be?

Sometimes when you can't take the car out of Park, it's because there is a light out ...kinda of like a safety

Just re-read ....hmm seeing as how it fixes it self, it might be something with the braking system or something

K, I figured that it could be something like that. But it's not...........HELP...., I just figured somebody might of had the same problem It seems as something isn't engaging whan I depress the brake, and then it does when it want's.

I read something about this in the manual, there is that keyhole looking thing by the shifter itself, read something about sticking a flat tip screw driver in there and getting it out of Park. I will try to scan it tomorrow and post it. Im off to bed atm though. GL

Well yes, that will get it out of park - but will not fix the problem at hand. I scanned the factory service manual and couldn't find anything on it. I will check again when I get home.

I'm guessing the brake switch near the foot pedal under the dash or the solenoid that unlocks the shifter is going bad. That should be under the center console.

Thanx everyone for the help. I agree with sockfocks it is one of the 2 switches, but which one? Wow, can I be the only one who has ever had this problem ???
