I purchased a 2007 IS250 and love everything about it except for one thing that's keeping me from fully enjoying the car.
There is a rattle/squeeking noise coming from the dash. I have already taken it 3 times (same dealer), but the sound is still there. At this point I don't know what to do. The rattling sound can be heard on rough roads and also on some spots when I switch lanes on the freeway (especially the 91 freeway). I could just raise the volume on the stereo and try to ignore it, but come on this is a new car and it is really annoying me. My old 97 Integra makes less noise than that. Even my friends notice it when I drive with the stereo off.
What should I do, Take it to another dealer, if so do any of you know of any in SoCal that have experience with this type of problem. I know there's a Lemon Law that says you can file a claim after taking it for the same problem 6 times or more, but does it apply to my case.

Take it to a different dealer, if you haven't already...
go back to the dealer and go for a drive with the service advisor. hopefully, the car will make the squeaks you are talking about. that way the service advisor will be there first hand and hear them as well. after, tell him you dont want the car back until its fixed. hopefully that will get you somewhere. also, be aware that they will probably have to put a few miles on the car in order to diagnose it and get rid of the squeaks.
I forgot to mention that I have driven with the Service Advisor and the squeeks are there and he hears them, when I get the car back sometimes i don't have time to drive with him again. It also doesn't help that the streets and freeways are very well paved around the dealer. They have already replaced the complete bezel assembly around the AC vents and stereo. They also replaced the bottom assembly where the cigarette lighter is located. Additionally the car had a rattle sound in the passenger side, which was repaired with some sort of foam. I don't know why I had bad luck with this car.
I was already thinking of trading it in because I regret not getting the Nav system, but it is difficult right now since it is a lease and I have barely had it for a little over a month.
During the last 3 weeks I have been a total of 7 days without my car, frustrating...
I believe there is a TSB for this issue. Well..that was what the service manager at my dealership said, as it was his crew that first resolved the issue and posted the TSB. IIRC, the problem is caused by exposed screws that hold the windscreen. It requires the whole dash to be removed so they can add some padding to the bolts(?).
Do a search on this board too, I read another post somewhere that was talking about a loose screw in and around the glove box area. There was another one where it was loose screws in the moonroof tracks and yet another where is was tabs around the rear windows... all of these I think are now TSB and should be available to your dealer.
If I were you I think I'd search out another dealer. If you are still unable to get a fix, I'd contact Lexus corporate, speaking from experience, they are really nice and will work with you to get the problem correctly resolved.
yeah that sucks it can be annoying.... you spend upwards of 40k and you get rattles like a car that costs 12k. Tell them to fix it or give you a new car it. If you have a lawyer friend have him go with you....or hire 1... dont lie down like a sheep, but go in with guns blazing "so to speak"....You have a right to get what you paid for.
Please...
That's the kind of attitude that makes it difficult for the rest of us to get real problems resolved. Dealerships never used to give people the "it's normal" excuse for everything until people started expecting their cars to be completely flawless, free from any kind of squeek or rattle. Given that we live on earth, where you will experience huge temperature changes (oh no!) on the inside of your car because of differences in climate and location of the sun, it's totally unreasonable to expect a car to be perfect.
Give you a new car because of a rattle in the dash...
I wonder if squeeks and rattles are even listed in the warranty literature as something that's considered a covered repair?
I'd raise hell if I had a rattle so loud that my friends mentioned it... And if dealerships couldn't fix it after 3 times I'd definitely demand a new car... Heck, I'd do it after the first time... If I ever bring a car into the dealership for a warranty issue, I will not accept the car unless the problem is fixed... And if they give me the car back without fixing the problem, I will give them hell like they've never had it before...
Don't worry about it. And don't let something as trivial as a rattle in the dash keep you from enjoying a car. That's just silly.
I disagree. This guy is obviously annoyed he bought a car with a great reputation for service and isn't getting it. It obviously is a defect with the car, hence Lexus has a duty to fix it.

I disagree that a squeek or rattle is automatically a defect. Sometimes it is, but most of the time, it's not.
Also, I don't know why Lexus has a reputation for great service, because so far my experience with post-sale service at 2 dealers has been poor. They are just as unwilling to diagnose and fix problems as any other car maker.
