Exactly. I'd rather not pay more (cost or insurance) just some a few idiots can press buttons while driving. Although I wish their voice recognition had more options. Anyone able to get "Mountain View" to be recognized?

LOL. dumb me. I figured it out!

Now i gotta figure out a way to remove the clock panel without scratching the face plate.

I do have an idea. I will use 3M double sided tape. The very strong one people use for spoilers and body kits. I would stick one end onto the faceplate, insert the 2 tools supplied by Lexus =), and then stick the other side of the tape on a nice flat surface and pull away.

Would you guys think it will work? I really dont want to scratch the panel.

Once successful, I will backup my 06 Nav disc and test on my lady's 07 IS250.

There is a tool in your IS's tool kit that is specifically designed to remove the clock panel.

Grab the tool from the kit! I didn't know either! Thx for researching this. Curious to see what all happens.

So I guess the family that gets rear ended by a 18wheeler going 80 is going to thank you, since they had to pull over to the side of road when they wanted to change a nav destination or manually enter a telephone number instead of the the passenger in the front seat just doing it while they were driving.

That’s not likely. What’s more likely is some wire cutting buff who nav-hacked his system, taking his eyes off the road to enter a destination and then rear ending that poor family’s car.

And again, for the 100th time, you CAN enter destinations and telephone numbers while driving through the voice command system.

I tried the tool. It just unlatches the clock panel from the Head Unit. It does not allow you to pull the peice from the unit and I do not want to pry the peice off. Thats why i wanted to use the 3M tape method.

When you put in the tool, it just unlatches the part and it does not pop out. It stays stationary. I gotta find a way to remove it without ruining the finish.

Default What is the Voice Command to Find Starbucks

OK, I'm an '07 owner and if i had known the difference in 06 to 07, i really would have went with an 06. But to Magellan's point...voice commands....

The IS 350 is not the star ship enterprise by any stretch of the imagination. The IS voice system can never get anything right in my opinion and the frustration caused by that stupid thing is more likely to cause an accident than anything else.

Basically....here is all I want. I want to be driving down the highway in an unnfamiliar area and be able to locate the closest Starbucks or other location by name. Unless I am mistaken, there is not a voice command to find the nearest starbucks.....which means im either screwed or have to get off the hiways and come to a full stop before either i or my passenger can type the thing into the POI screen.

The whole thing is stupid and really irks me to no end.

Help appreciated.

Don't forget the 100's of thousands of Hondas and Acuras out there on the road that don't cripple DVD destination entry by hand! Anyone driving those cars, not just "wire cutting buffs", but maybe even a senior citizen like yourself, could rear-end this hypothetical family's car as well!

Install a switch to hack the nav and override the destination entry while moving. Do a search, there are many people who have done that.

Do you really want to go over this topic again? You must be tired of it.

BTW, “wire cutting buffs” was not my first choice of words (being in the Navy I had other selections in mind ), but I was trying to be kind to you youngsters out there.
