It's confirmed that the 2007 do not have the same override sequence. But, it's not the '07 car, but rather the fact that the 2007's come with the newer V6 Nav DVD disc. The 2006 came with V5 of the Nav DVD disc.
I seriously doubt this is the case. I suspect the override is independent of the disc, and more likely the version of the headunit firmware, which changed from '06 to '07. Has anyone tried the v6 disc in their '06 car?
Has anyone considered that the reason you cannot do the “trick” in the ‘07’s is because Toyota considers it a safety and/or liability issue and has therefore closed the loophole?

Without getting into it too much, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that ain't it. Truth is we don't know for sure. Maybe there is a different way to get into the service menu and when you do, there the Override button is. Maybe. That's my bet.
Oh, just reading this. That doesn't make sense. If there was a safety issue, there would be a '06 recall. Especially if they took positive action in the next model year.
I'm more inclined to believe they always intended to hide the menu and maybe forgot to. Or they had some last minute problems and actually PUT a service menu in the setup and didn't have time to go back and close it out.

How do you explain the fact that if you disconnect power from the NAV
unit, it will start a lengthy load proccess from DVD. It tells you not to
turn power off until it has completed. It sure seems like it is loading
from the DVD during this process.
I've made successful copies of the V5 DVD and am uploading the iso to an
'07 GX470 owner to try in their vehicle.

They considered mandatory VSC/VDIM a safety issue too, and now allow it in '07!?

As stated in an earlier post, I confirmed that the hardware has not changed between the 06 and 07. This includes the NAV screen, NAV computer, antenna, and wires. The part numbers are the same for ALL the hardware. It would be interesting to see what happens when a 07 disc is installed into an 06 car. If NAV override works, then it's back to the drawing board.

This may be partly true. The word "forgot", however, is a bit harsh. Perhaps Lexus didn't hide the override button deep enough into the menu tree and has since changed it. The point being, Lexus DOES NOT want the end user fiddling with the override for safety reasons. I believe that the override function is still there for diagnostic purposes. It's probably only available through the scan tool, now.

I agree. And that’s my point. Not to open the nav-hack discussion again, there is a safety component here, and whether you agree with Lexus not, it’s something to keep in mind before you take your eyes off the road at 70mph to input destinations.

Don't forget that many people here drive much faster than 70mph... Sometimes much, much faster...
Bottom Line is that all the "Nanny's" for Bluetooth, destination input, DVD movies are all on the software that loads from the map DVD. We need someone to fix the software post a patch We can then burn a new map DVD from the one already in the car. Also, on the Lexus survey that is sent out (which you can also do oneline) to all new car purchasers everyone needs to respond to the "items I like least about my car" and enter the navivagation nanny's. Enter something like "this almost made me by a BMW, G35, etc" Lexus will bring back a hidden menu if they think it will cost them.

Hidden override menus are also unacceptable... Lexus needs to set their navs to enable destination entry while moving, just like Honda/Acura and others do... nuff said!

Too late; I already filled mine out. In the “items I like best about my car” section I entered all the safety features that keep me and my family safe, with the added advantage of keeping the price of future cars down due to a lessened liability risk.
