I don't need to drive the IS350 to know it's fast. Our LS430 does 0-60 in around 6.5 seconds and i feel it's fast. My uncle's 2005 GS300 doesnt feel extreemly fast (it's good/adequate at around 7.4 seonds). So i know what a 7 second car feels like, i know what a 6 second car feels like, I cant imagine what 5 second range 0-60 car feels like (I would assume faster).

Are you in Kuwait? Why don't you get an IS350 imported from the US? We have family friends who buy up used cars here and export them to Kuwait for a living. That is if you don't mind having a slightly used car...
Otherwise, test drive the IS300 and see how it feels to you and if you'd be happy driving with it every day.
To one of the above posters... the 3.0 used in this specific car is not the old 2JZ-GE inline-6, but rather the new 3.0L V6 used in the new GS300.

Lol... I thought about it while posting, does a turtle qualify as a pet? Then I decided... sure, why not! I used to take my turtle out for a walk in the afternoon; you know it had a leash attached to it. We used to play fetch (it would take hours for 1 fetch) and when I’m out for a drive, my turtle would be sitting in the front passenger seat with its head out the window. You know things that pets do.
When I first got them they where all tiny and cute, then they got really big they wouldn't fit comfortably in their aquarium; so we moved them to my parents Jacuzzi tub.
(The turtles used it for almost a year until someone finally stood up against them and said "I’m afraid you can't stay here anymore" and we gave them to friends, poor turtles)

Hello all,
This is my first post in this forum. I am from the Middle East and last week we finally got the IS in our show rooms for the first time. However, we got screwed because we didn't get the IS250 and IS350 but instead we got IS 300 . While I was waiting impatiently to get the IS350 I can't really decide whether it's worth it or not to get the IS300 with the 3GR-FE engine and only 228 hp. It is true that I will not be drag-racing the car every day but 228-hp seems low these days especially that Lexus produces the same car with 306 hp in the US.
So, I am thinking whether it's worth to get the IS300 and enjoy the car with so-so power or should I skip it and look for another car ?

Here's the engine specs for the IS300:
Type : 3.0-litre V6 Four Cam 24-valve (3GR-FE, unleaded)
Piston displacement : 2995cc
Max. output : 228HP/6200rpm
Max. torque : 30.6kg-m/4400rpm (approx. 222 lb.ft)

About the engine, it's the same engine used in the new GS300 but with NO direct fuel injection therefore the engine has a bit less HP and TQ.
I think I saw an ad on the news paper about the 335i coupe the other day. German cars and extremely expensive here. I will just give you a list of what the prices are:
IS300 w/o nav .... $33,500
IS300 with nav ... $37,500
320i w/o nav .......$34,400 with 16-inch wheels and almost no options.
330i with nav ..... $56,800 !!!!! It doesn't come with 18's, sport seats ... etc. I don't really know what the price of the 335i is but considering the 330i is over $56k I think the 335i would be at least $58k. If I would import a car from the US, it would be either a BMW 3-series or Mercedes S-Class.

Although the new 335 is a nice car and very powerful, I would never get it unless it's the coupe (wow). I just feel that the IS is the best looking car in its class, it's stylish, sporty, simple yet edgy, elegant and luxurious. Plus it has everything I want from a car of this class and price range. Just look at that interior, that beautiful speedometer and the rings that turn orange/red according to your speed and time of shift. Come on how cool is that!!! The paddle shifts, the touch screen, the incredible navi, the amazing ML sound system, the great leather & wood, great interior quality/fit’n finish. It’s a car to be proud of. I could make a list of the features and incredible safety (VDIM is one of them) but you guys know what they are.
It's not about having the fastest car in it's class, I just want a fast car. A 5 second car is excellent for me; a 7 second car is alright. I don’t want to get a BMW, I want a Lexus. The 335 could be faster but I don’t care, again it's not about having "the fastest" it’s about having a car that you desire. I desire to own an IS350. We’re not asking Lexus of ME to do the impossible, we’re not asking them to create a powerful engine, all we want is for them to bring the existing 350. At least as an option.
If they don’t get us the IS350 I guess I “could” get a 335ci, but ill probably get the IS300. I’ll just have to live with the fact that somewhere in the north/west of this world, tens of thousands of people are driving the dady of all ISs; the IS350…
I like Lexus more; I don’t see my self in anything else.
