TPWL went off today and I figured that one of the tires had a flat and pressure was probably down to about 12-15 psi.
When I checked the tires they were reading 29, 28.5, 28.5 and 28 psi. I was impressed that the sensors were able to pick up the slight pressure differential.
Yea, I was on my way to work this morning and mine came on....all four tires has about 32 psi + or - a psi. Anyway, I jacked it up to 34 front and 36 rear and the warning light went away.....lt's a lot of pot holes here in Utah.
hey a question for you guys? do you have to enable this through that satellite feature or does the sensor light turn on automatically if there is a air difference?
It measures the pressure in each tire. When it drops 5.8 psi from the intial set pressure, the light goes on. Sadly it does not tell you which tire (lame IMHO) but it does at least warn you you've had a significant pressure loss.
Interesting, though, that the manual says you can re-initialize the sensors for a different pressure. This suggests, for example, that if you prefer to run the tires at 30psi (cold), you can tell the sensors that 30psi is the new starting point.
Well, I've done that twice, and it still seems the sensors will sound off if the pressure gets to around 27-28psi. So I've got it figured the sensors are preset to signal at that pressure no matter what you do.
The manual also says you can use a secondary setting for special tires (like snows, I guess) that require different inflation pressures. But the dealer has to set that up for you.
(BTW, I wholeheartedly agree the TPMS without individual readouts is lame, lame. In addition to making it an Easter egg hunt when one lights up, it takes away the ability to check your tires from the comfort of your car seat whenever you want, thereby crippling a real safety feature.)
.
My sensor came on, I checked all four tires, no problems. Went to the dealer and they said somethimes when the weather changes the sensors will need to be reset due to the changes in pressure. They did the reset and since then no problems.

Anyone else have a similar experience?
a few weeks same thing happened to me..
pressure went off and yes i did have to check all 4 tires to find out that the pass/rear was at about 28lbs. its a good idea to carry a tire gauge for locating that low tire. had a slow leak which was plugged and warning light went away
