Default Tint installer thinks I need 15%

To those of you with tungsten silver: what tint did you get? I thought 35% was good enough but today 2 diff installers said I should get 15% and I would not be happy with 35%.

Oklahoma has a limit of 35% on any window. OHP is not kind to offenders.

Texas allows 25%, I think, but the dealer put 35% on my TP, and it is just fine, in my opinion.

I too have the Tungsten Pearl. I have 35% ceramic tint as the legal limit in my state (MD) is 35%. It works well in the day and at night it is just dark enough to see thru.

I've had 35% on two cars (silver with black leather) and like it. Any darker would attract too much attention in a state where anything's illegal on the front 2 windows. Plus, I like being able to see out at night.

I have 5% all the way around on my tungsten pearl 250. It looks great. And thankfully the police (city, sheriff, and state) in my region don't care about tint unless they pull you over for something more serious and just want to tack on an extra fine.

Hi there, I have the 07 IS 250 with TP and I have the 15% tint. I think it looks really good. I have a friend who has a silver BMW with the same 15% tint and both of our cars looks really good. Here in CA it is illegal to tine the drivers window and the front passenger window so it does not matter which grade of tint you get. I have been pulled over twice for my windows on my previous black on black Honda Accord and it was a fix it ticket. The 15% looks good in my opinion not too dark and not too light. I like the same % of tint all around the windows as I think it makes the car look sharper. I dont like when people put 35% on the back and 25% on the front windows. It really is up to your personal preference.

Get what YOU want.

If you want red tint with orange and yellow flame accents, do not let the installers tell you otherwise. You're paying them for their service, not their opinions.

Did you get the IS because a dealer told you it was "better" than the GS or SC? You got it because you wanted it.

Get the 35% if that's the one you want.

I also have Tungsten Perl IS 350. It's black interior so I didn't get a dark tint. This is Greystone 40% tint(non-metallic). It looks dark on black interior. With lighter interior it obviously won't look this dark. For me, I'm satisfied with 40%.

It depends upon your interior color. Cashmere/Grey will not look as dark as black with the same tint %. When I did my tint, the tinter just finished an IS with 30/20 tint and it looked too dark to me, so I went 40/30. Difference was that IS had a black interior and I had cashmere. In retrospect, I would've liked 30/20 better with my interior . . .

Thanks for the pic, I am going with 35% all a round.
