correct tire inflation is critical. i always do a 'visual' check of all 4 tires before i get in the car, it literally only takes 10 seconds to do. i use a digital tire pressure gauge to check all 4 tires at least once every month.

coincidentally mine went off today and all 4 had low pressure (<30)(my fault as I haven't checked the tire pressure for over 6 months). Given that Lexus's TPMS requires an in-wheel sensor, and therefore, is the direct type (as opposed to indirect type that is based on ABS sensors), why doesn't it display the absolute pressure and which tire is low?

I agree. Infiniti does, why can't Lexus. My TPMS went off last week, and wouldn't you figure, it was the last tire I check that was the low one. It's didn't even look low, but it was.

^^Here's a me too. I was reading the documentation on this system while I was researching alignments yesterday and found out not only does it measure pressure, but there's a thermal sensor in there too. You can get a warning because the temperature is out of parameters as well.

So, with all this technology in the sensor, why can't it tell me which tire is low, and exactly how low it is? I'm pretty disappointed about that.
