2400 miles on my sterling perfed interior. Still looks brand new. Yours does indeed seem to be "messed up". Bad cow, HA. I don't think so. If they don't fix that somethings "messed up" with Lexus.

what is the point of this particular post? do you even have an IS? I know that the crappy acura tl has leather problems but the new IS does not. my LS 430 ultra was 5 years old and didnt have the leather problem either so what exactly are you talking about relative to the new IS? the leather isnt too soft. maybe its the environment variables that you arent considering.

Wow, nice to see everyone's input on this. I have a feeling i'm gonna get the raw end of this regardless how much I push for it. I'm gonna tell corporate (or the dealer, again) to show me any 06 IS (w/ perforated leather) with similar miles, and if any of them have a similar pattern, i'll gladly back off. However, I don't think they can produce a similar problem, ..in any of thier Lexus line, with even higher milage.

Corporate really let me down. All they did was call the Service Advisor who first saw the problem an dasked him what he thought. ...well I could have told them that answer. I thought there would be some research or documentation involved. Now I go to another dealer for a second opinion.

Sorry to hear that... I agree with you, I expected that they would at least do a bit more research.

GOOD LUCK!

my seat is doing something similar but instead of coming togeather in the center the right side center of the seat is roling over and is all loose its real crappy, my $29,000 A4 never had leather problems in 70,000 miles. and after 9,500 miles I have leather problems

I've noticed something similar to the picture in the first post in this thread in my car as well. The odd thing is that it's not in the front seat where someone is always sitting. Rather, it's in the rear seat (both sides) where my kids sit when they're in the car - and that's only about 2 or 3 times a week. Neither one weighs over 60 lbs. My IS has only 7500 miles.

UPDATE:

Sterling McCall Lexus came through for me. At least the first step of getting something done. The service manager agreed this was not normal. He's a leather specialist and said it was not the leather, but most likely the foam under it. He agreed there was no way this was caused by how I sit, nore was it any kind of wear. The protrusion is what caught his eye. So, ...I have a couple car shows coming up the next couple of weeks and must schedule an appointment after. Sometime in mid to late September I presume. They will peel off the leather to see what's going on, and if in fact it is "something", they will order such part(s) and hopefully remedy the situation.

FINALLY! someone esle has the same problem! ....just called my serrvice advisor and left a message. Let him know about this thread, and I was expecting a solution or i'd be calling corporate for resolution.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

Greg
i have an 01 bmw and the leather does not have this problem, the reason i posted it is i was thinking maybe its a lexus problem, i dont think your leather should look like that after 4 yrs and especially not for the short amount of time he had the car.....

I've seen people complain about minor wrinkles which makes me laugh, but I think your seat cover looks like it's stretched for some reason. It should not pucker like it is in the middle.

When I was having my 1966 mustang restored, I reupholstered the seats. I learned the hard way that to prevent puckering and folds, the material has to be pulled tight and then "hog-ringed" to the seat frame through the foam. If you don't have good tension or if the seat cover is not properly aligned, the seat will pucker or you will have folds. Also, if the seat foam is not the right thickness for the cover, you will also get folds (that should not be a problem with a new car). In my case, I had to redo my front seats and add an extra layer of padding (using padding similar to what that you would find in a quilted bedspread, not foam)--afterwards, they were as tight as a drum with no slack.

So I would go back to the dealer and complain, and if they object, then ask to see ten other IS's that are in for service to see if any of them have the same problem.

I'm not sure how this happened to your seat, but my IS seat does not look like yours.

That's still odd. When I pointed out that there is something (like a heavy string or wire) under the cover of my front passenger seat bottom, they told me the seat cover cannot be removed and replaced like in most cars. I figured they would peel off the cover, remove the offending object and stretch it back on.

But they said the whole enchilada has to be replaced as a unit.

If they end up peeling yours off (successfully), please let us know, since I'd rather have them do that than replace a whole seat bottom.
