I still prefer my blackout housing better. Won't reduce light output and still gives you the appearance of smoked besides the chrome reflectors.

Why would anyone "smoke out" their headlights or taillights? That's just dumb. And illegal.

Here's a link of pics of smoked out taillights on other colors for those who are asking for them.

Yes, but I prefer smoked salmon. The headlights aren't salty enough, and the plastic gets caught in my teeth.

These lighter Smoked colors (The ones on my fog's) Do not reduce light output at all. And even if they do its not a noticible difference (maybe a 1% reduction)

The reason we smoke out our tailights is to make the car look a little bit cleaner (during the day). At night you cannot tell the difference between stock and the tint (this is the most important thing (no difference.)) This is why we put on the film and not spray paint our lights

i have been considering smoked taillights for a while, but im concerned about putting a film on the exterior of the lights...over time wouldnt it degrade? people have been telling me painting is a better option..i dont know.

No, the film is much better because not only does it protect your lights from rocks and the elements. You can always take it off if you want and it does not reduce the light output
