I would find a different dealer. Like others have said, they can be turned off. My dealer did it, no questions asked.
When I drive home from work I drive into the sun and DRL's definately make it easier for me to see oncoming traffic. The best example I can use to justify the beneifts of DRL's is just after a brief afternoon rain storm that gets the roads all wet and allows water to steam off of the hot ashpalt only then to be follow by bright, glaring sunlight bouncing off the road. This is proof enough for me.
