Sorry to hear about your accident, I just got in one about 2 weeks ago so I'm in the same situation. My lawyer told me that in order for a car to be totaled, the cost of repair has to be at least 75-80% of the value of the car. I tried to look for the KBB price for 2IS but it's not available yet. Even the dealership doesn't have this information. Good luck and hope you feel better

They said the car is repairable! The adjustor is going to call me in a few days and let me know the total cost of the damage. Why? I have no idea.
I'm going to have to drive around my cool rental for another 4-5 weeks...

That sucks. It looked repairable. Good thing you leased the car instead of buying.

Take it to a respectable repair shop (assuming no significant frame damage), and you'll never know the car was in an accident. Not the end of the world. Again, the important thing is that all car/person damage can/will be repaired. And you'll likely never again let a cell phone take your attention away from the real task at hand: driving (others could learn from this lesson as well).

Sorry for the bad news, but I have no faith in any body shop. I have been in 4 accidents since 2001. Everytime, the car came out worse.

3000GT
1st accident Dec 01, car pulls out of Emergency shoulder and I ram right into the back of him.
$4500 damage. 1/2 the car painted, a completely different color than original. IT WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL PAINT. I paid another 1K to paint the rest of the car(since the new paint looked a lot better than the old).

2nd accident August 04. I am waiting for a parking space. Someone pulls out of a different space, before I can react.... slam right into my read Quarterpanel. Take it back to the 1st shop..... THEY CANT MATCH THEIR OWN PAINT

3rd accident October 04. I park run into the Popeyes. Come out, alarm going off... I am hit in the other quarterpanel. Hit and run. SOBs. New shop. They paint the entire right side trying to blend the paint. Its okay.... but the Quarter panel wasnt reformed perfectly.

IS350
4th accident March 06. I went to work on a saturday. I parked on the opposite lot, where no one else was parked. I come out to my car 4 hours later.. note on the car. Front Quarter panel smashed. Take it to the Lexus Dealer/shop. 4 TIMES... 4 times the car was in the shop to get it right. And still its not perfect.

Notice the last 3 accidents my car was stopped. Not even moving. People cant drive

Good luck!

I feel for you. I have been in 4 accidents (not my fault). All 4 times I was stopped also, not even moving! Yes people in America cant drive!

I also believe the car will never be the same. One of my accidents I got rear ended at a traffic light (drunk driver). $3800 in damages. Everything seemed perfect, but once winter came and it started to rain. My trunk was somehow leaking water. There was standing water where the spare tire is located. Till this day I dont know where the water is getting through since the carpets were never wet.

I was afraid of that.

They did the same to my Acura.

When there is no engine/drivetrain damage and "just" bodywork, chances are it will get fixed.

unfortunately insurance is an acturial science--the only thing that matters to insurance company is cost, not the driver's feeling, new car or not. My wife's Acura MDX was T-boned when it was 6 months old--it was repaired--6 months and $12k later. The car never felt the same since.

WHen the repairs are finished you'll have to post pics to see if the body shop has done a good job of aligning the panels and matching the paint.

Of course you'll have to see if the car drives the same.

tqlla3k, sounds like you need to find a better body shop. A good shop will match paint >>> in good condition <<< very closely. If your paint is weathered, then there's only so much they can do. Not their fault.

I dont think its the body shop. After The 2nd accident, I took my car back to the place that painted my car... no match.

In the IS, I took my car to the Pohanka Lexus/Acura bodyshop... after 4 tries... eh, its okay.

Some colors are just hard to match. And BWB looks like one of them.

Before I went to pohanka, I looked around at all their cars to see what type of mismatches I could see. All of their cars were in great shape. No mismatches.... bring in my IS... huge mismatch at the bumper.

After several retrys...Its better than most Factory Acura MDXs/TLs(which have huge mismatches at the bumpers)

It's actually not a mismatch. Paint takes on a different hue when sprayed on plastic, as opposed to sheet metal.
