For those of you who went with Formula One, is there any way to distinguish which series of F1 tint is on the car by looking at it (i.e. color, thickness, clarity, etc.)? I had the Pinnacle 35 series installed on my car last week, but I haven't noticed a significant reduction in heat. Ceramic tint should keep the interior relatively cool, correct? Of course, it's been pretty hot in LA recently, so maybe I'm asking for too much.

Just got my tint done this weekend.. California Tint in Rosemead.. paid $130 and included lifetime warranty against peeling, fading, scratching, lifting, bubbling, etc. etc. etc. Supppppper clean job. The tint is Greystone SP CC 20. There were about 4 other IS there getting their cars tinted as well as a few bmws, mercedes and an escalade.. I'll post pics tonight..

Just got my tint done by California Tint.
Also did Johnson Films Greystone, but went conservative: 40/30%
Was asking about ceramic, but Peter talked me into Greystone, which I beleive is just a premium dye tint - oh well, he probably saved me $300 . . .

I'll be getting my Tungsten Perl/Black interior IS 350 next week and the dealer is tinting it. Actually this Lexus dealer has a local tinting shop doing all their cars and all they use in Johnson Window Film. I called them and they said they would use the Greystone film on mine since it will have the Nav system. My question is on the tint percentage. I live in SC and the tint law is 27%. I've never had tint on my cars before so I'm wondering if 30% tint film will be too dark for me or should I go 40%? Can you post some pics of yours since you seem to have 40%/30% split and that would be a good contrast to compare? Johnson Window films website has samples of how they look but it's not the same as the real thing.Originally Posted by socalJD

Uh, may have to wait on the pictures, the tint hasn't cured yet and the car is dirty from the install. I will say that since you have a black interior, your tint will LOOK darker with the same film than mine. When I was there, they had just finished a granite/sterling IS with 30/20% tint and I thought it looked a lil' too dark, so I went with 40/30%. However, since I have the cashmere interior, the tint came out lighter than I thought, so I may have gone 30/20% after all. I also went 40/30% to keep the CHPs away . . .Originally Posted by brel523

In SC, 27% in max allowed on all windows except on front windshield. No tint is allowed on front windshield. From what you saw and from your own car, would you think 40% or 30% all the way around(except front windshield) would look best on Silver/black IS 350 with the GreyStone tint? Like you said, 30% with black interior may be too black. Would 40% be too light? Thanks for your opinion and pics when your tint cures and gets and good bath. I'm sure she'll be pretty.Originally Posted by socalJD

Other good SD tinters.
- Alvin O's (Kearny Mesa) - many tints. the best of the best in SD
- Tint Devil (Miramar) - Solargard
- Diamond Tint (Miramar) - LLumar
- Classic Tint (El Cajon) - ??
I want to do mine but Alvin O's wants 450, and it just hurts. so do you recomend Mr. Tint????Originally Posted by IS2Fizzle
I just had FormulaOne Pinnacle 35 ceramic done @ Mr Tint in Escondido. The guys there did an awesome job. As for the tint performance, there definitely is a difference with the ceramic tint in terms of glare and heat reduction. I paid 360 otd. Steep, but they were the only FormulaOne dealer in the county.Other good SD tinters.
