Default NEED help quick..!!

Okay guys I tried doing the dvd hack tonite. Since i didn't have caps I just taped the wires together with electrical tape. After doing all the connecting and stuff. My Nav screen doesn't even turn on. Did anyone have this problem when doing the hack?? and if so, how did you guys correct it. Connection problem maybe. Oh yeah one more thing to add when I was cutting the tape. A lil zap came from the wires.. I'm not sure if that had to do anything with it. I hope not...Thanks guys. OH yeah the stereo and stuff still works.

Try doing everything all over again. I realized that it is easy to forget to re-plug some of the wires after you un-plug them to get to the back of the Nav. I almost did it to the cigarette lighter wires, and perhaps you forgot some of the wires for the Nav.

Good luck. Hopefully the "zap" is nothing. Doing the nav hack voids your warranty.

Voids the warranty on the car or on the nav?

Ouch.. that sucks... I sure hope the zap didn't short anything. When you say the stereo works.. does that mean the screen turns on and that only the nav portion doesn't work or does that include the screen too?

Also, are you sure you cut the right wires, and on the correct ends? I've done two systems (mine and Philips above) and didn't have any issues as long as I followed the instructions carefully. I'd double check everything. If you need help, PM me.

Did you even unplug the battery when you did this?

It sounds like it still had power running through it. Its not good to cut wires and leave them close to one another, while power is still connected.

No need to unplug the battery. I didn't when I did mine.

However, I had the car off. Did you have the accessory power turned on?

Well, when i say the nav doesn't work I mean the climate control doesn't work, audio controls don't work, basically all the stuff connected to the nav doesn't work just the clock, I called a serivice guy from lexus and he said bring it in its covered but I didn't tell him that I messed around with it and the nav he says it cost 6g's! urgh, and i'm not counting labour. If it cost that much i'm debating whether i should fix it. wat do u guys thinks. Thanks for the replies I appreciate your time.

yeah, I tried checking out the fuse. Yeah maybe I could check out the electronic guy. But how would they be able to figure out what went wrong?? BTW the fuse is in the passenger side correct(for the nav).

I'm glad to hear that everything went well.

Thanks for posting this important thread; it will make people aware of possible problems with the hack.
