Default Turn engine off and keep accessories on?

I am almost always using my bluetooth phone through the car when I pull into work. If I put the car in park and hit the start button, the whole car turns off and I lose the bluetooth through the speakers. I know I can transfer the call to the handset and I will do that on occasion. One day I unintentionally turned the car off with the trannie in drive, or maybe in nuetral. I discovered that when I did this it kept the accessories on. Is this the only way to turn the engine off while maintaining accessory power?

Funny I was going to start the same thread today. I hate having to put the person on hold when I am using the bluetooth feature and either turning off the blutooth function or just walking out of range.

Any knowledgeable CL members have any ideas?

Default Accessory Turn Off.

Turn off the car prior to putting it into park and then after you place it in park the accessories should remain on. Then when you are ready to exit hit the start button twice without your foot on the break to turn off all accessories.

Does turning off the car when it's not in park have any adverse effects on the tranny?

Two reasons:

1. Premium unloaded is over $3.00 gallon and headed higher, why waste it?

2. Excessive idling is prohibited in many jurisdictions, often carrying a large fine. http://www.atri-online.org/research/...Compendium.pdf

I dont see why we dont have an accessory ON button next to the start button. The new Vettes have it, why cant we? I was never really jealous of my friends Vette until he showed me his accessory button, for some reason he still always wants to take my car. Figures!

We do have an accessory button of sorts through the start button, keep your foot off the brake and press the button, then press again will give full power to everything without starting. Leave the shift lever in neutral or drive with the engine running and press the start button and it does the same thing.

I think this is bad advice, not a tip. If you were in the passenger seat and your friend was driving you car and he pulled up in your driveway and hit the button without moving the gear, would you be happy with him still? None of us know the ill-effects and it isn't recommended by the manual is it? This is BT problem.....
