Default dilemma

I'm having a problem. Today, I went to the dealers to talk to the salesman that I know from before. I bought a car from him before when he used to work at Infiniti and we picked up a pretty good relationship. So today we were discussing about possibly getting the car out the door (is350 with navi sport package) at a certain price and he is basically asking me to do 46Gs OTD.

im sorry but i'm thinking about this and for 46,000 , that's quite alot of money for a car that has a tiny back seat and being the lowest model in lexus lineup.

Now, I never ever buy cars above MSRP and look at this

for $2000 more, you can take home a bmw m3!
for $2000 more, you can take home an Infiniti m35!!
for $3000 less, you can take home a base stock bmw 525i!!
for the same amount or a little more, you can take home an infiniti fx35!!
for the same amount or a little more, you can take home a Porsche Boxster!

So now, I'm gonna go back to him or one more dealer and see if he will crack for $42Gs OTD. The sticker by the way is $43Gs.

Am I crazy?
Is the IS350 worth that much money? the rear seats are tiny haha

thanks

He's a salesman and I'm sure he's trying to reel in a big fish. The problem for you is, there are some people with $$$ to burn and will pay more than MSRP just to have one. Hopefully, there aren't many like that around you. I thought alot of buyers in CA were getting the best deals posted. For me personally, I would not pay above MSRP. As a matter of fact, this is the first car I have ever paid full MSRP, that was a bitter pill itself.

It's worth it, only if YOU think it's worth it. I find it strange that people feel the need to ask "what's a good deal". Every deal is different, if it doesn't feel right...move on!

FYI, there are very few 350's in CA. The dealers I've visited lately, <10% are 350's, some have none. Supply and demand.

Well a few things i might add. Your kind of all spread out here. First 46,000 OTD for a fully loaded IS350 is not bad and is below msrp. Second you complain about the back seat and it beaing the lowest model then you say " same amount or a little more, you can take home a Porsche Boxster". Boxer is a POS and is the lowest model. Third I consider the ES to be the lowest model by my standerds anyways not the IS. Fourth I spank any one of those cars while playing DVD's and sitting in my Vented front seats. Fifth your priceing is off by a few thousand. For example. The M3 is not only 2000 more. Its starts at 48,900 with no Hids, heated seats, side airbags, premium sound, power and memory front seats, real leather, and much more. Those are all add ons that cost extra. Your compairing a fully loaded IS out the door price to a msrp price of a M3 with nothing. A new M3 with same equip is going to cost over 10,000 more easy. The IS is very well worth it. If you dont think so buy the 250 with navi only. Youll save alot.

Edit: Mine was 47000 OTD 350, LUX, ML, Navi. I just noticed you didnt have ML and the Sports is like 500 less then the Lux. So your deal is quiet as good but still a 1,500-2,000 OFF.

I agree, you gotta ask yourself, do YOU think is worth it? What is it in a car that you really want?

Why don't you give Peter at Lexus of Glendale a call? I'm sure he'll give you a great deal.

Yes if you get some cocky a-hole for a salesman go to another dealer and go back with your new deal..bragging. If you get a deal elsewhere let him know about it and tell him "gee sorry you lost the business"

I got my loaded IS for 41,110 and the MSRP was 45,859. Don't take no crap, ther are deals to be had elsewhere. Be persistant!

Good Luck

thanks guys!!

well in my defense, i think m3 is pretty hawt haha, the performance and the overall car is pretty crazy compared to the is350 but i built an infiniti m35 fully loaded like so, and its only a bit more.

ehh its not FULLY loaded with all the options but just the navi and sport package
the sticker was 43

sounds like you don't really want the car for what it is, a lexus is350. sounds like you enjoy those other cars just as well. so you indeed have more than a dillema..... For me, I wouldn't buy those other cars even if they were 5,000 below msrp or $8,000 less than the is350; because i didn't want those other cars regardless. that puts me squarely in the is350 only. then comes the price. if you pay the price that you think it's worth and feel comfortable with the deal....dilemma solved.

if i were you i wouldn't get the is350. because no matter what you pay, it is going to be a bit expensive (there are very few cheap is350s). and you're always going to driving around wondering what the next guy paid for his vehicle that is just as good as yours and when the new models come out, it's gonna bug you that the price is so close to yours and for a few $$$ more you couldn't gotten one of those....personally, to me that's silly but only you know what feels right for you.

a BMW 525 is in comparison? have you driven that thing, its a slug, even the 530 is a slug, some of these comparisons are off, way off as true comparisons to a loaded IS. Find a new car that can match the performance, interior, options of the IS for that price, good luck with that

Um, $46 OTD in CA is under sticker. At $43,000, +8.5% sales tax, you are looking at $46,655. What are you smokin to think you can get it for $42,000 OTD? Basically $4000+ under sticker on a car most people will pay 2-3000 more than you for?
