You're right. That is a lot of money for the entry level Lexus. But find me another car that keeps up with it, puts out the same economy, and offers the same features at this price level, and then we'll ask if its worth it. I'm not trying to BMW hate (because I don't hate BMW's), but the E90 doesn't offer quite as many features and it can easily get into the $50k range.

Sure it's a hot car, but discounts are there now if you look. I'm expecting a nice discount when my IS350 arrives.

yea right the salesman can easily turn around and sell it for way more than that and someone will buy it

Ok, Now if you want it OTD for under MSRP pricing, then I agree. It's going to be hard to find that kinda deal.
I agree wholeheartedly on the whole salesman can just sell it to the next guy for sticker. That's what I kept explaining to a good friend of mine on the IS250, but she insisted, always room to bargain. I agree as there is "room" to bargain, but you have to see how well this car sells, and how the market is. The cars are flying off the lots! You'd be hardpressed to find one for invoice or under! She refuses to agree with me, so we ended it with a argument.
a.k.aws., If you really want a deal though, I suggest waiting. That's all there is. Look at all the features/power/comfort/sportyness and compare with your other car choices, then make your decision there.
Yea the OTD price beign under MSRP is a great rule of thumb if you buying a Chevy. Right now i dont think your going to find it for a IS. Now, after next years model comes out and the demand slows down im sure you might be able to find it. But not right now. Take a poll on how many are still waiting to get their car from Specials orders and allocation lists. Its not like the dealer is stuck with these cars where they have to give good deals.
Asking for 4-5k off right now is a bit much.

I would prefer a Boxster S over the IS350. But seeing how the Boxster S starts at 53K, I don't think that's a viable option =P. Still, the base Boxster is still a very good car. For a daily driver, the IS350 is the best in terms of comfortability while still having some performance. But for a weekend car/track car, the Boxster is definately a lot better while still having an upscale interior (although not as good as the IS350). Plus, if you care about a manual, it would be a plus for the Porsche.
As for the other choices....Unless you get some massive discount on the M3...then maybe. but the rest....i personally wouldn't get.

You should have locked the price before you placed the order.
When I went car shopping, my brother persuaded me to go next door to the BMW dealership.
For a similarly priced ($43K MSRP) BMW 330, I was told I could have it for $38K. This was the
new redesign (style) so I passed.
What was the difference between BMW and Lexus? Lexus no 350s on the lot, BMW about 20 330s on the lot.
