Just curious how many would go through this agony again, and, if so, would you do it with another car manufacturer? One of the reasons I chose Lexus is for the excellent reliability, not sure I would have done it with just any car.
paying 40K+ for anything I want to make sure it has everything that I want. Plus its pimpin to say I ordered my car, its being customized exactly how i want it.
My IS is actually my second special order. I just can't think of any other way as I want a car that is made to my specifications, rather than compromising with what is on the lot.
I didn't exactly custom order mine, but I got exactly the car I wanted. I was willing to wait (I waited about a month or so) and the car via some trading and swapping with the allocation...whatever, I got the car when it wasn't originally destined for my local location. Now that I have this car, I will custom order the next one for sure (unless the exact one is sitting on the lot). It's a lot easier to wait four month while you are still driving "the car of your dreams" than it is to drive a piece of junk and waiting lol.
Yeah, this lexus was my first custom order. I had to order because none of the cars on the lot had what i wanted. MT with NAV and HIDs. I ordered 2 weeks ago, and they said it would come in 3-4 months.. I will let you guys know if everything came out right.
Picked up my special order IS350 on 03/18/2006 after ordering in 11/18/2005; to get exactly what I wanted was well worth the wait...if I'm going to spend that kind of money on a car, I want what I want!

Yep, color is not something I settle for, and given the amount of options that can be added to this car, I think its just as well too specific for me to be impatient. If anything, the waiting time just contributes to a larger allocation towards the DP.
I'd also custom order with other car makes as well. Anything over a few thousand, and I'm getting exactly what I want, or waiting until I can.

We custom ordered three of our last four cars. Never had to wait four months though. The wait is killing me
Last night my wife was asking me if I should grab a BMW or Audi instead because I am driving her nuts too. I just fell in love with the IS though so I am going to stick it out till the end.
