Default CD Player Question

Long time listener & first time poster...
Bought my wife an IS 250 AWD and she's telling me that the CD will not play on certain occassions when the weather is cold. We live in the Northwest where it gets pretty cold and when she is at work and the car sits in the cold, when she goes home in the evening the CD player will not play.

Any thoughts on this or has anyone else had the same experience?

Other than that, this car is incredible. My wife drives it nicely and I drive like I stole it!

I believe that. Moisture, condensation, etc all can cause CD playback issues. I would not use the CD player on very cold days.

Default dash condensation

slightly off the topic, but when I test drove an is250awd it was a cold rainy day and the dash was seriously fogged up. So much I couldn't hardly see the odometer. I asked the dealer about it and he nervously spouted off some stupid answer. I am still waiting for my 250awd to come in, hope this isn't a common issue.

Default First time I've heard about this....

however the previous generation Nav LCD Screens took a while to warm up on below freezing days. I haven't noticed this as much with the new VGA monitor on the IS. Acuras are usually very slow and Nav will take about a minute to warm up. The CD should work at sub zero temps once the car is warmed up a bit. Do you think there are ice crystals from ambient air moisture in the unit? The dealer can order a new head unit. Since your local dealer would know about similar conditions just ask them if they have encountered this. We have not....

I know a sample size of one probably isn't worth terribly much, but I've had no problem playing CDs in cold temperatures, not have a ever seen the dash fog up.

Funny... I use my CD player everyday, from -20 (wind chill) to +whatever it hits, and never have a problem.

Perhaps checking with the dealer would be a good idea... on a not necesarily related note:

"Lexus has developed a master CD to be used for customer complaints of the CD player skipping or CD player cannot read disc.."

You might want to ask them to check that... TSIB: SS003-05

So today I decided to erase my cd-rw and burn some new albums (mp3) on it. Turns out when I pop it in my non-nav cd player, it just keeps "reading disc". I've tried with a couple of cd's and same thing. What is this master CD and what does it do?
