Full Size Spare
When I test drove the IS350 in October I noticed that there wasn't a full size spare, but it looked as if there might be room for one. Has anyone gotten/ tried to fit a full size spare in the well under the trunk mat. It would be interesting to see if the 17"s or even the 18"s would fit because it might be a good way for people getting aftermarket rims to get rid of their old wheels, if anyone else cares about getting a full size spare. Anyway, I am getting ready to order a Crystal White/Black IS350 Sport with ML/Nav and PCS and I was kind of interested in a full size spare. I've always had them, felt that they would be useful if I ever bent a rim or something, it's wierd to me that Lexus didn't include one.

I'm not sure whether a full size spare would fit. As for a car in Lexus's class deserving a full size spare, realize that the class leader, the BMW E90 3 series has no spare at all; it comes with run-flat tires.
With the directional tires on the IS350, you've got a 50/50 chance that the tires on a full size spare would be mounted in the wrong direction.

I'll pass on run flats. The degradation in ride quality isn't worth it (every review of the BMW's mentions it... they've finally started re-tuning the suspension to compensate), especially if you put them on a car that wasn't built with them in mind.

Despite the safety issue (I have AAA, so it won't be my butt out there), I'm just as happy we don't have them. Better ride, and a much better selection of replacement rubber.

What are you guys talking about? I haven't changed a flat in over 10 years, probably close to 15 years; in well over 200k, 300k miles. A small spare is just fine for the Lexus, the day I get a flat I call AAA to change it while I stand well off on the side of the road, pay someone to do it....c'mon.
BTW, Ennis was murdered not a roadside accident.
