Run flats are more expensive than regular tires. The sidewalls are rock hard so it drives rougher than regular ones. Most people prefer the soft cushy Lexus ride. If you want to mod it to your taste later then that's up to the individual.
They started with the donut spare last year with the GS and now the IS. It cuts costs and drops extra weight. When I get a flat I don't care if I'm seen driving for a day on a stock or a donut as they are both are ugly.

In any case, I don't know anybody with runflats on their GS, not even on the forums.

just like is300, they do have 16s, just that you have never seen them
