After sneaking at a copy of "2006 New Car Features IS350/250" at the dealership, here is the info for the LEDs which I think a lot of us would be interested..

Combination Lens - Taillight & stop light LEDx2 0.4/0.4 W
Combination Lens - Taillight LEDx16 1.3W
Combination Lens - Turn Signal Light Wedge base bulb (non-LED) 21W
Combination Lens - Rear Side Maker Light LEDx4 0.3W
Combination Lens - Back-up Light Wedge Base Bulb (non-LED) 16W
Licence Plate Light LEDx1 0.85W

This is a copy which details all the technical specs and how-it-works of differenet aspects of the car (like VDIM, engine/tranmission etc)that the technican has and I ask them to let me take a quick peek.

Hope it will clear the confusion.

Excellent. This confirms the specs sheet provided by Lexus in the press release. I think this issue is pretty much settled now. Thanks to everyone for a lively discussion on this issue.

Is there such a thing as LED-bulbs? I'm still unclear of the difference say between LEDs in the IS and why the LEDs look so much different in say the Honda Accords...

i think its pretty obvious that they are LED's, the color contrasts RED more than filament. when i first saw the car and the salesman pulled up, I said, "hey cool it got LED tails"

That'd be cool. The Kia Amanti is currently the only car I know of that offers LED front markers

Edit: Add the new Porsche Turbo, but still... a Kia? Come on, that gets another
BMW 5 series.. 3 amber markers for the front parking lights.. pretty cool.

LEDs light up quicker giving that extra few milliseconds over a regular bulb and also use less power than conventional bulbs.
