Default Gas Light

i was wondering, how many miles can we pull off when the gas light comes on in the is250??
i work in irvine, gas is really expensive here, i wanna try to make it back home and pump gas there, about a 20 mile drive, is this possible??

Wouldn't your computer display give you your "approx. range"?? It really depends on how you drive it and how "hilly" the road is ect. Why don't you just put $10 or something in just to be on the safe side?

does the computer say that? ive never really paid attention to that.......i thought it just tells you how many miles u driven? i was thinking bout just putting in a couple of bucks but then i gotta drive to the gas station and then head the opposite way to the freeway entrance, i guess ill put in a couple of bucks to be safe.......

I think the light comes on when there is about 3 gallons left, so 20 miles should be no problem (even if it's one gallon, 20 miles of freeway is doable); although I've read somewhere that it's not good to go below 1/4 tank, due to possible water/sediment at the bottom of the tank.

yea, you can get 20 for sure.

my IS350 light comes on and if i remember, i can still go like 50, 60 or more no problem.

the center of your dash where the outside temp are, you can switch to miles range approx. it tells you when you'll actually need to fuel up.

Hey, not to hi-jack the thread or anything but since we are talking about lights - do we have a low washer-fluid light in our cars??

yea i can get about 50 - 60 miles once the light comes on. Also when your range meter hits 0 miles left you still have about 2 gallons in the tank.

Anyone find it funny that in our society our THIRD level of warning still isn't absolute? First you have the gas gauge, then you have the gas light, and lastly you have the miles remaining display...To me (as an engineer) if the display reads 0 miles remaining, you should be unable to move any farther..otherwise this is wrong. Still though I see the need- just something funny to point out

this is very true. I had about 20 miles according to the "range", but when i filled up, it was only 14 gallons.. we have a 17.1 gallon tank if i recall correctly. So i believe we can SAFELY go an additional 40 miles after the range has reached zero, and 50 miles if we REALLY push our luck.
