Like I mentioned before - the marketing guys at Lexus want to send BMW a signal - you show your new E90 3 series and we show our new IS - and let the customers decide. BTW, the Geneva show is the first week in March.

Default The IS 350 will have at least 280hp

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=145342

The new Avalon is out with official specs from Toyota
"the Avalon boasts more power and an improved interior. Engine output is up 33 percent over the outgoing model, with the new 3.5-liter V-6 pumping out 280 hp and making 260 lb-ft of torque"

Since the IS 350 will share this same engine, the IS 350 should make a minimum of 280hp. The near or over 300hp rumors have been circulating and this is very promising. This same engine is also rumored to be in the next base Supra making 330hp.

I can see if Nissan and Honda can squeeze 300HP out of 3.5V6, Toyota should be able to also. Direct injection should make getting to about 300HP doable but beyond that the only way to get more HP is to play with the rev limit or FI. Everyday HP and torque (260HP and 260tq between 2-5K rpm) in everyone's 3.5V6 should be the same. To really make use of the power the trick will be to keep the weight down.
With the G35 and TL now at 3500lbs and the E90 set to perhaps gain a few lbs over the E46, the new IS can come out ahead by limiting the weight gain which seems to afflict every new generation of car.

The overall shape resembles but it's close to what the actual new IS looks like.

Lets just say the LF-C looks remotely related to the sedan that we saw. I think the design philosophy of the LF-C to the IS hardtop coupe/convertible is to be of seperate design from the sedan, somewhat the direction of the G35 and the Camry w/the Solara.

Even 1000 of those words wouldn't give me a better idea of what the thing will look like.

It's like Bangle trying to explain his design - you gotta see it and judge it.

but please, flipside, don't let that dissuade you.

so the LF-C's very unique rear fender crease and weird-lookin' rear end didn't make the cut?

For the sedan we saw no. Just imagine the new IS' styling resembles the new GS at a smaller scale.

Welcome to CL BTW!

Everyone will have a different interpretation in words that saw it. Just be patient instead of being a critic of diction.

Flip......were you one of those "select few " who actually saw the new IS photos? For us East-Coast guys, Lexus DID have the new GS on display at the just-ended Washington, D.C. Auto Show, ( I did a couple of write-ups on it ) but no new IS, or even pictures. I asked several times.

I'm not sure I agree with Lexus reasoning that you can't display more than one or more new or concept vehicles at a time. Cadillac did here in D.C with the new STS and Sixteen. Nissan did with the new Pathfinder and Altima SE-R. So did Chevy with the Cobalt and SS concept. So did several other manufacturers.

Are they at least going to preview the new IS at Detroit? Frankly, I hope it looks like that Toyota Crown possible-IS concept you posted a couple of months ago....that was a SHARP-looking set of wheels.
