First I am a noobie on here and just getting acclimated to the site.
My son purchased a used 2011 lexus is250. It has been a great car except for a few issues.
My sons amplifier went out so I have to get that serviced or replaced, but the issue is not with that.
The issue my son is having.
He had a low battery, and he replaced the battery, BUT he swapped the posts, meaning he plugged the negative in positive and vice versa.
So he put the battery in correctly and the Main fuse was blown.
we replaced the main fuse and most of everything was working except for the windows and power mirrors for reversing.
I'm at a loss of what I can do to fix this. Does anyone have any suggestions or reocmmendations.
I want to thank anyone who contributes to this thread and is much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
so disconnect the battery, then connect it. Start fresh, unless you never touched the window switches yet, then you can just leave it and follow my instructions from here on down.
1. Press the start button twice, so it’s in the ignition mode that has everything on except for the cars engine.
2. From your drivers door window switch panel, press the DOWN window function on your front drivers door window, and as it’s going down half way before it opens completely, immediately press the UP window function and then keep holding the upward window function button lever switch until the window is closed and keep holding it for about 3 seconds after it’s completely shut.
3. Now the same thing to the passenger front window, making sure it goes down at least half way and then immediately have it go back up and hold it in the up position even after the window is completely up and sealed, hold it for about 3 seconds - 5 seconds and then move on to rhe rear windows. Do one window at a time.
4. After all the windows are finished with this procedure, be sure to turn off the cars ignition and either get out and lock the car and come back and your windows will work or just turn on the car and drive around and your cars windows should be functioning, from your drivers switch panel or any of the other doors switch panels, they all should work, assuming you did the procedure for that window. If you did not do it for that window and would like to but you did it for other windows, then you gotta dc the battery, wait a min, then reconnect and redo the process all over.
5. If this isn’t your issue then my apologies, but hope this helps for anyone who’s windows doesn’t work. If in doubt just dc the battery then reconnect and follow the procedure from the beginning and it will work, unless your windows are truly and actually broken.
Thank you for the information. I tried to do this process you mentioned and I still have no movement on any of the windows in the the push to start with it being amber and not green.
So I'm not sure what the next steps are.
The start button will only be green if you are stepping on the brake petal to start the engine. Otherwise it will be amber without starting the engine.
If you pressed the start button twice like Yodog said in his step 1, the instrument cluster should have been illuminated and showing the gauges and the windows should have worked. If the instrument cluster was black (not illuminated) then try again, making sure you are pressing the start button twice. If this isn't working, start looking for more blown fuses. The car has 4 fuse boxes - 2 under the hood, 2 under the dash and if you have a convertible, a 5th fuse box in the trunk.
Greetings,
Thank you for the clarification. I did do the steps provided as per the AMBER light on the push to start and still no success.
As you mentioned, I'll have to check the fuses in the interior. When we replaced the Main Fuse by the battery there were a couple blowed fuses on the driver side engine bay fuse panel.
So all exterior fuses were replaced. Now to check the interior fuses.
I could be wrong but there are only 2 window fuses that are 20A? Please let me know if i'm mistaken.
Thank you all again for your support on remediating these issues. It is appreciated.
