I was driving last night and let off the gas pedal after being almost floored and I heard a loud pop under the car towards the front, I thought I ran over something or a tire popped, but I checked there was nothing.

So I assume it was an engine backfire pop, excess gas hit the hot manifolds and ignited. My research found that this could damage the cats/honeycomb, but engine seems to be running ok, no rattle from the exhaust, no CEL

Anyone ever experience this???!!!
