Hey gang,

NX has been home for a few days and been driven to and from work a couple of times.

My question is the exhaust really stinks and I am wondering if that is just the initial burn off and will eventually fade? I even noticed it on the way home after we bought it, as I was following the wife home on the freeway.

Is this something i should be concerned about?

 

The smell you are getting is a mix of a lot of things.

1. Exhaust packing is burning. This is normal

2. All the stickers are catching fire and burning off. This is normal.

3. The smell you probably REALLY aren't liking is the smell of hoses burning in. This is also normal.

If your car makes smells after about 1,500 miles, then I would be concerned. Till then, break in.

 

Normal, there is also protective coatings on the mufflers, exhaust pipes and catalytic converters that are burning off and off gassing.
