Hey guys, I’m new here but wanted to share my experience with my 2006 is250. Maybe someone will find it helpful.
Recently I decided to fix my sticky dash and door panels (central console just to match the color and texture as well). At first I tried to wrap it with vinyl but it didn’t go as good as I expected. So after doing more research I’ve decided to wrap it with leather like vinyl. 4 door panels and dash took me 20 hours of labor. But I believe it can be done within 10 hours if you have tools and good place to work (Second pair of hands would come in handy when it comes to dash).
Down here you can see a few pictures of how it looks like. Unfortunately I didn’t take a lot of pictures while doing it, but if I can answer any questions since I’ve learned the hard way the things to avoid. I’m happy with how it turned out, so I believe it’s worth a headache.
I recommend removing the dash and putting it back after you wrapped the top and around the back edge. It would be easier to continue working when it sitting fixed inside. Here is the good guide on dash removal. Skipp the steering wheel part. All you need to do is to remove two screws holding it up. No need to take steering wheel apart.
Door panels is the easy part. Dash is the hardest one. Central console is the easiest.
Bare minimum to complete the job:
1. Wrap https://a.co/d/2yeJR0u (I bought 25ft and had plenty left. Don’t recommend 10ft it might not be enough)
2. Spray adhesive x2 (I used Gorilla spray adhesive https://a.co/d/aTFbbC9 Plese don’t use “Ultimate” one, it almost ruined my dash)
3. Old credit crard (To tuck in material on the edges for door panels)
4. Scalpel/ Scissors/ Knife
5. Screwdrivers
6. Wrench with heads 10 to 15 I believe.
Labor - 10-20 hours
Cost ~ $110 and whatever you accidentally ruin with glue.
